Kathy Chapman
"“I’ve learned that I still have a lot to learn.” Maya Angelou’s words resonate with me. Before the recent tragic events that sparked the Black Lives Matter movement, I had naively thought the passing of the Civil Rights Act in the 1960’s guaranteed equality for all people. When social media shed new light on pervasive injustices, I became more sensitive to the racial disparities that still exist. I am proud to be a member of this organization as it works to help bring about systemic change by recognizing and supporting young Black or African American seniors."
Kathy Chapman was a science educator and administrator in the Oceanside School District for 30 years. Recently retired, Kathy currently teaches science education to pre-service teachers as an adjunct professor at Molloy College and Hofstra University.

Kim Kramer
After graduating from law school in San Diego, Kim returned to NYC to practice public interest law at the NYC Dep’t of Housing. With her 2 year old and newborn sons her husband Bruce and she moved to Oceanside where she was a stay at home mom who got involved in Oceanside PTA, community activities, teaching hebrew school and ultimately Nassau County government and politics. Kim returned to working life as a Legislative Aide to the then Oceanside Legislators, moved to the office of Counsel to the Legislative Majority, then staff attorney for the Nassau County Police Department. After a two year stint as a law secretary in Nassau County Supreme Court she was hired by the Town of North Hempstead Comptroller as an attorney to audit their town claims. Though she recently retired, Kim fully intends to stay active in issues that affect our community and future. "The “Say Their Names” organization gives me the opportunity to resume my efforts to better all of our lives by being better ourselves."
